Mars, American confectionery company, has issued a consumer advisory regarding a range of its products it says are unhealthy for consumption.
The products are SKITTLES Gummies, STARBURST Gummies, and LIFE SAVERS Gummies.
According to the company, the affected gummies are facing recall due to the presence of thin metal strand embedded in them.
Moreover, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) also amplified the warning in a June 2023 public alert it issued. Consumertrics however discovered poor public awareness on the defective products.
NAFDAC therefore enjoins distributors and members of the public already in possession of the recalled product not to sell or consume them. Instead, the agency advises that the defective be dumped at any of its offices closest to anyone who has the product. It also urged anyone feeling allergic reaction as a result of consuming the product to report to the nearest NAFDAC office or call the toll free code 20543 (available on all networks).
