The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), has appointed Consumertrics Nigeria into its Industry Consumer Advisory Forum (ICAF).
The NCC, in a letter jointly signed by Alkasim Umar, its Director, Consumer Affairs Bureau; and Clem Omife, Head, Consumer Protection And Advocacy, attributed the appointment to its belief that “Consumertrics would be a valuable partner in raising awareness on telecom consumer issues and protection in Nigeria.”
ICAF, according to NCC, “acts in advisory capacity and make recommendations regarding the interests and concerns of consumers of ICT products and services including Differently Abled Persons and the Elderly.”
Muyiwa Ayojimi, CEO, Consumertrics Nigeria, said, “We appreciate the NCC for recognising our efforts and contributions to what we call – consumer governance in Nigeria. This definitely is an acknowledgment that Consumertrics is doing something positive and has experiential value to share by being a voice to the voiceless consumers and advancing their rights and interests, not only consumers of ICT services, but generally across the Nigerian consumer space.”
