The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) says it discovered malware in Microsoft Edge browsers and thus advises internet users on safety measures.
How the malware works
According to the advisory, the malware disguises as news, advertisement, weather or traffic updates on Microsoft Edge browser News Feed.
As an advertisement, the malware comes across as attention grabbing and enticing to potential victims
It works in such a way that the Microsoft Edge News Feed appears as the default page, but when clicked, it redirects a user to fraudulent tech support websites
Users are advised to practise safe internet browsing and to refrain from clicking on links they are unsure about.
