Travelers to North Korea are hereby urged to seek information and take necessary precautions as a new infectious disease has broken out in the country.
Consumertrics learned that at least 800 families are so far affected by the latest disease outbreak.
Medical crews and disease investigators have identified the infectious disease, discovered in Haeju City in South Hwanghae province, as an “acute enteric epidemic.” This refers to a digestive illness. South Korean officials have said the outbreak may be cholera or typhoid.
The new outbreak, which was first reported on Thursday, comes amid a wave of COVID-19 infections.
North Korean authorities have launched preventive efforts against the new infectious disease outbreak, including quarantines, “intensive screening for all residents,” and special treatment and monitoring for vulnerable people such as children and older adults.
