Consumertrics has observed the distribution of counterfeited Bama mayonnaise in Nigeria foods market, hence this advisory.
What you need to know:
The fake product shares the same brand logo as the original but there is a little nuance in the colour of its content.
As shared by a victim, the Bama logo wrapping on the product jar is used to mask that of the counterfeiting manufacturer.
How to avoid buying a fake Bama Mayonnaise:
Bama mayonnaise is a product of GB Foods. Consumertrics advises consumers to look out for the ‘quality stamp’ on genuine genuine Bama mayonnaise products, which is part of the manufacturer’s quality control measure against the activities of product counterfeiters.
Consumertrics also advises consumers to report counterfeited products to National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC), through its consumer complaint channels. You can send information on the counterfeited product to the Short Message Service (SMS) code 20543 for free on MTN, Glo, Airtel, 9mobile.
