Streaming app, Spotify, is introducing a new feature that allows users to find nearby events and concerts. The feature replaces the existing ‘Concert Hub’ with ‘Live Events Feed’ on the app.
Sam Sheridan, Spotify’s Product Manager for Live Events Discovery, said music fans can now engage with artists using the platform.
For René Volker, Senior Director of Live Events, Spotify’s “goal is to ensure that fans are aware of all of the upcoming events by the creators they love and creators they may come to love.”
“We believe if we get that right, then we can get more fans to more shows and help artists and venues have better-filled rooms,” Volker added.
However, the feature does not offer a user the opportunity to buy concert ticket.
At the same time, Spotify already has existing ticketing partnerships, from which users can purchase event tickets.
The new feature works by tapping into a particular show, which reveals concert lineup, other event details, and a link to purchase tickets, among other things.
